The Alberta Short Course Senior Swimming Championships is the highest level provincial meet for this time of the season, and was represented by ten top swimmers from the Silver Tide Swim Club. This was one of the club's most successful meets this season, and was capped off by three medal performances.
Karlyn Elford, 17, was the first Silver Tide swimmer to reach the podium on the first night of competition. Elford's 400 meter Individual Medley was a strongly strategized race from the start, and ended in a bronze medal finish in the Women's event. Greg Kozell, 18, was Silver Tide's most successful swimmer at this meet collecting one gold medal in the Me
n's 50 meter butterfly, and one bronze medal in the Men's 50 meter freestyle event.  Both swims were personal best times.
Silver Tide was also represented strongly in other events, with Brendan Elford, 15, Nathan Weatherby, 18, Megan Martin, 14, Jasmin Hillman, 16, and Allison Hender, 14, all advancing from preliminary swims to the finals sessions of the competition. Hender also qualified herself in the 50 meter breaststroke event for the Western Canadian Swim Championships, to be held later this month in Kamloops, BC.
